Class Information
Our beginner classes focus on body awareness, posture, and basics. This class is for everyone and no experience is necessary. We start with basic body mechanics and turn it in to beautiful fluid movement. You will learn the basic movements that are inherent to bellydance and will provide you with the tools that you will need to begin to dance.
Our intermediate and advanced level classes are broken up into categories, separating the Tribal Fusion from Egyptian Styles. Each style has an intermediate and advanced class dedicated to it.
- Belly Dance Basics: Come learn how to dance and relieve stress. This class covers beginning Belly Dance moves, the base movement for all belly dance styles and beginning zilling.
- Intro to Egyptian style: (Intermediate level) This class takes you beyond the basics and introduces you to the glamour and excitement that is the “Egyptian” style. In intermediate level class you will learn a variety of Egyptian movement styles. This class also covers combinations, intermediate level zilling, costuming and history. Prerequisite: Belly Dance Basics class or a demonstrated understanding of basic moves. Zills and veil needed.
- Intro to Tribal: (Intermediate level) This class introduces you to the world of Tribal Belly Dance. Tribal Dance was formed in California during the early 80’s. It is an Americanized version of Belly Dance that has the influence and feel of old eastern dance. Learn Tribal style movements, how to follow cues and folkloric dance. Prerequisite: Belly Dance Basics class or a demonstrated understanding of basic moves. Zills and veil needed.
- Advanced Egyptian style: This is a performance preparation class. Consisting of advanced level movement, zilling, a focus on soloing, music breakdown, stage presence and dance theory. Prerequisite: Intro to Egyptian style class or a demonstrated understanding of beginning Egyptian style moves. Zills and veil needed.
- Advanced Tribal: This class takes Tribal Dance to the stage. Consisting of advanced Tribal movement, sword balancing and Tribal formation. With a focus on group improvisation, leading, following and stage presence. Prerequisite: Intro to Tribal class or a demonstrated understanding of basic Tribal moves. Zills and veil needed.
- Body Shaker: This class will get you up and moving. It is not only great practice but also a great work out. An aerobic formatted bellydance class that focuses on cardiovascular endurance, toning and flexibility. All levels welcome.
- Livie’s Little Ones This class introduces body awareness, rhythm and basic moves to children ages 5-10.
- Troupe: Closed rehearsal for performance troupe. Instructor recommendation required.
